Over-the–counter medications (OTC drugs – from the English over the counter) are an extensive group of medications that a patient can buy for self–medication directly at the pharmacy (and some medications and not only at the pharmacy) without a doctor's prescription. They come to the patient directly from the hands of the pharmacist, bypassing the doctor.
